SPN - Olivia

Wednesday 10/06/2009 - At 12:30 and almost to the minute that the doctors predicted, Olivia Alejandra Molloy Portas decided to join us and we haven't stopped smiling....

She is absolutely beautiful and although she only weighed 2.47 kgs and measured 46 cms, she is perfect, healthy and should start to grow quickly..A very big thanks to everyone for their gifts, flowers, wishes of congratulations and to all of the family and friends who made the journey up to Clinica Teknon. Monica and Olivia are now back at home resting and both doing fantastic..

We already have too many photos to publish on this blog, but I will add one or two when I can find the time between changing nappies, bringing up her wind etc etc.. ha ha ha. I even enjoy it when she is crying. Well she doesn't actually cry. She "screams" but without any tears.. Finally, as it is my turn to change the little surgical bandage that you have to use (I am learning something new everyday) to wrap around the small piece of umbilical cord that eventually falls off, I will finish this entry with one of my already favorite funny photos of Olivia.

SPN - Final week

When we thought that we still had at least two weeks left before the "big day", the doctors have finally decided that Olivia will be born by c-section on Wednesday 10th June 2009 between 12.00 and 12:30. How is that for confidence!

I don't know who is the more excited? Monica, myself or Teo our dog who suspects that something big is about to happen, but he can't put his paw on it. He will probably wonder what the strange smell is when I bring the first freshly soiled nappy back to our apartment from the hospital. The vet told us that this is something that "we have to do" and I am not looking forward to transporting the contents home!

As you can imagine, the last few weeks have been non stop preparation, so we will be enjoying the final few days before Olivias birth by having as much extra sleep as we possibly can. Everyone says that we are going to need it and as we are first time parents we are listening to advice and helpful tips from family and friends alike..

SPN - Monicas belly again.

With less than a month to go and instead of keeping her feet up, from the smile on Monicas face (dancing in the living room) you wouldn't think that she was about to have a baby within the next 3 to 4 weeks..

Ok, it was the "belly dance"so we can forgive her..

SPN - Monicas belly..

Monicas belly is changing shape on a weekly basis and now its growing every day. Olivia will be with us in another seven weeks and as first time parents we could not be happier.
